Mark is the President and co-founder of WebTechs. He is a Software Engineer specializing in WWW standards and programming practices. Mark is currently a freelance consultant and an author. He co-authored The Foundations of WWW Programming with HTML and CGI with Ed Tittel, Sebastian Hassinger & Mike Erwin from IDG Books which is now on the national computer booksellers list. He also co-authored A 60 Minute Guide to Javawith Ed Tittel for IDG books.
While at HaL Software Systems in Austin, TX, Mark co-created the HTML Validation Service and the HTML Check Toolkit. Both of these continue to foster the acceptance, teach the importance, and test current WWW standards. Mark also works closely with the WWW Consortium (W3C) in Boston, MA, on HTML standards and the creation of Web user demographics standards and protocols.
Mark served as one of the founding Dr. Web analysts where he answered technical queries about HTML from WWW neophytes world-wide. Mark is a co-founder and past Director of the Austin WWW Users Group, and is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Austin Area Multimedia Alliance.
Finally, Mark graduated from Texas A&M University in 1990, with a BS in Computer Science. He is currently finishing up his Masters of Computer Science from TAMU.
