freeWAIS - is the public domain version of CNIDR software's popular search and retrieval engine. A good deal of the Internet sites that currently support searching today use this software to accomplish the task. FreeWAIS is capable of supporting a wide variety of file formats to index, and can be accessed from clients that run on UNIX machines, DOS/Windows Machines and Macintoshes. We have included as many versions of freeWAIS as could be had on the CD.

son-of-wais.pl - A slightly more advanced variant of the "wais.pl" script, this script offers you a better control over some of the features and commands of WAIS.

kidofwais.pl NEW! - An even further advanced CGI script, based on both the "wais.pl" and the "son-of-wais.pl" scripts, it allows the user a even better list of features. Some of the more interesting fields provided by WAIS can be searched on and displayed to the client with this CGI.

SFgate - SFGate is an all-in-one CGI package for accessing a WAIS database from a form generated on the fly. The package ships as a collection of PERL scripts which controls the searching, interface, and retrieval of all WAIS database information.

wwwwais - The C program, when compiled is a great CGI used to front end all of your searching and interface issues. One of its strengths is that it can be used to manage a waisq session, a waissearch one, or even a swish query. By compiling the program to consult a common configuration file, all wwwwais's popular options can be manipulated on the fly.

swish NEW! - The "Simple Web Indexing for Humans" application was designed to be an easier to use, simpler to implement, and faster to index engine than the larger, clunkier WAIS. With indexing web pages predominantly on the mind, this CGI is a fantastic way to get started in allowing your users to search for pages on your site.

WAIS Source Table NEW!

fwais.pl - This CGI is used to gateway WAIS searches to HTML pages called from a form. It is also loosely based on the "wais.pl" script created by BSDI's Tony Sanders. One of its strengths is that it can operate in search, retrieve, or banner modes.
